the beauty of teak

Anyone else feel like you’re doing everything and nothing at all this summer? With the exception of a few weeks of camp in June for my kids, we’ve had virtually no schedule. I love it because we can have fun on the fly,  but it also makes it harder to set aside blocks of time to get much done with work or home projects. So that’s partially why it’s mid-July and I’m just now getting our patio decor ready for the season. I just keep telling myself that I’m getting a jump on fall when we use it the most. eclectic pink girls room

If you read my last post you know I’m deep in the process of planning out our kids new bedrooms. Even though we are still waiting on some of the bigger pieces (mostly for my daughter, A), we decided to fast track the transition and moved the kids into their own rooms last weekend. And it was hard…on me. I didn’t realize I’d be so emotional not seeing them sleep in the same room anymore, but I was kind of a mess their last night together. I know we can’t keep them little forever, but this move is just another reminder of how fast they are growing up. Fortunately, I was the only one who cried and they are really loving it.

Right before Memorial Day, we decided it was time to finally give our kids their own rooms.  At almost 5, they have only spent one night apart from each other since they were born.  And though we knew this day would come, we kind of thought we would have to force it on them, but we’ve been dealing with some sleeping issues from the sharing aspect and the kids seemed excited about having their own space, so we just decided to go for it.  Continue reading “classically cool boys room”
